Delhi gears up for pleasant Diwali

October 20, 2014 5:40 PM |

Diwali final CroppedLast five days have comparatively been colder in Delhi. Temperatures have been settling below normal forcing Delhiites to wear full sleeves clothes during night and early morning hours.

According to the data available with Skymet Meteorology Division in India, Delhi recorded 30.4°C as the maximum temperature on October 16, which is 2 degrees below normal, while the minimum settled at 16.2°C, again 2 degrees below normal. On October 17 the minimum temperature in Delhi had settled at 15.6°C, which is a good 3 degrees below normal. On October 18 and 19, minimums were again 2 degrees below normal at 16.5°C.
This trend is likely to prevail for another two days before the maximum temperatures return to the monthly normal of 32.5°C and minimum to 18.5°C. So weather wise it is going to be a pleasant Diwali this year.

But like every year Diwali is quite a troublesome time for people suffering from allergic reactions like asthma, etc. And the situation is not going to be any different this time either. The emphasis on a ‘Green Diwali’ too, will bring little or no relief from the high levels of smog on Diwali day. Furthermore, the early morning smog, low wind speed, high moisture content combined with the smoke from the crackers will be irritable to eyes.
