Western Disturbance likely to bring more rain in North India

The Western Disturbance over North Pakistan and adjoining areas of Jammu & Kashmir working in tandem with the cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan brought light to good amounts of rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, these weather systems will continue to bring snow in the higher reaches and rain in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours.

Weather in North India and Uttar Pradesh

Day temperatures in northwest plains are below the normal and they are unlikely to rise till Sunday under the influence of these systems. The maximum temperature recorded in Delhi on Tuesday was 6°C below normal at 30°C, while Amritsar was 8°C below normal at 26°C.
Temperatures in Chandigarh also fell 5°C below normal as the city received 16.8 mm of rain.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded 39.8 mm of rain, Bhatinda 4 mm, Jalandhar and Ludhiana both received 24 mm of rain. In Haryana, Ambala received 8.8 mm of rain and maximum was 8°C below normal at 27.4°C. Ajmer in Rajasthan also received 11.4 mm of rain in a span of 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday.

Today rain and thundershowers are likely at some places of Uttar Pradesh like Bareilly, Lucknow, Pilibhit and Shahjahanpur.

Weather in rest of India

Satellite images show that the discontinuity of winds persists from Gangetic West Bengal to south Tamil Nadu across some parts of Odisha, south Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana and Karnataka.

Today light to good amounts of rain and thundershowers are likely over Bhind, Gwalior, Morena, Sheopur and Shivpuri districts of Madhya Pradesh. Here rain would be accompanied by strong winds blowing at a speed of 40 kmph and 60 kmph.

Under the influence of the discontinuity of winds, isolated light rain will continue to occur over Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand in East India, Chhattisgarh and parts of Odisha in east central India, Vidarbha, Telangana and Madhya Maharashtra in peninsular region. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and adjoining Karnataka will also receive pre-monsoon showers.
