dairy farmingThe export of Indian dairy products (non-fat dry milk) are not expected to rise in the year 2016. High global supplies and low prices of dairy products in the international market has hit the export of Indian dairy products. This has been revealed in a report released by the agriculture department of America.

According to the report, the export of Indian dairy products are expected to remain similar to the 2015 figure of 30,000 tonnes. The report also states that the production of milk in the year 2016 is likely to see a rise of 4.8 percent compared to the current year. The total production of milk in the year 2016 is estimated to be 15.4 crore tonnes. But the domestic consumption is also expected to rise by 5 per cent next year, compared to 2015. The consumption of milk can go up to 6.27 crore tonnes.

According to the report of the agricultural department of America, the production of dairy products are expected to remain on the higher side even in the year 2016. Therefore, the prices of dairy products will again remain low.

India is the world’s largest milk producer. It mostly exports non-fat dry milk to countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, UAE and Afghanistan. India also exports smaller volumes of casein, butter and other dairy products to neighbouring countries.
