Manmade Global Warming has been creating chaos across the globe. This year, January has been the hottest ever recorded, all thanks to Climate Change and Global Warming.
Not only have temperatures been on a constant high, but sea levels have also witnessed a steep rise.
As per recent studies, sea levels are rising at the fastest pace than they have in the last 2800 years. Manmade global warming can be held responsible for this catastrophe.
Over 24 locations have been examined to observe the falling and rising sea levels over decades by an international team of scientists.
The fastest rise in sea levels was about 30 to 40 mm in a century, until the 1880s. However, by the 20th century, the number increased to a good 1400 mm. As per studies published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the oceans across the globe will rise between 280 mm to a whopping 1310 mm.
The fossil fuel use has led to the increase in temperatures, which further resulted in the rise in sea levels. About 75 percent coastal floods in the United States have been linked to manmade global warming. As per the study, if seas continue to rise, surges during storms would create enormous problems.
Sea level rise and temperatures are closely related. If greenhouse gas emissions continue at the same rate, the sea level rise will be around 570 to 1310 mm. While if the emissions are reduced as agreed upon at the Paris Climate Conference, the sea level rise will reduce to half the amount projected.
