Sydney has been warned against torrential downpour with possibility of flash floods within next 24 hours. The eastern parts of the city along with the Central Coast are expected to be the two most probable regions for these heavy showers.

As per the weatherman, a low-pressure system is likely to develop from the central parts of the New South Wales coast which could give exceptional rains over the aforesaid regions. Moreover, it is expected that these regions can witness almost a month’s rains wrapped up in a single night.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning for hefty showers, possibly exceeding 100 mm, lashing parts of the Metropolitan and Hunter forecast districts. The average monthly rainfall for the city stands at 80.6 mm.

Moreover, most rainfall is likely to occur on Wednesday evening, easing down on Thursday morning due to the shifting of the low pressure system from the NSW coast. Eastern parts of Sydney, Gosford, Wyong and The Entrance are the most rainfall prone locations.

Along with these torrential rains, Sydney could also witness southerly winds gusting at a speed of 20-30 km/h throughout Wednesday afternoon.

In fact, mercury is also expected to settle at a freezing point in Sydney ranging between 15°C-16°C until Friday. Melbourne is also expected to witness chilly temperature of 13°C for next few days. On the other hand, Brisbane will witness a little warm temperature high of 22°C.

The Harbor city will experience a soggy weather with the rainfall intensity further enhancing and topping up by Wednesday evening.

Moreover, minor flood watch alert had been issued by the Meteorological Department in the Richmond and Wilson's valleys from Wednesday afternoon onwards.
