Cyclone Carlos: Mauritius flights cancelled as threat still remainsThe first named cyclone of the year 2017 has been causing panic in parts of Mauritius and Reunion. The cyclone which was a severe cyclone until the afternoon hours has weakened into a moderate tropical cyclone.

However, a cyclone warning class II is intact for Mauritius at least for the next 24 hours. As per reports, the cyclone is likely to bring heavy rains over the Mauritian Islands as it moves closer.

In view of these weather conditions, several flights to and from Mauritius have been cancelled today. In fact, the South African Airways has cancelled all its flights between Mauritius and South Africa today.

The spokesperson of the airlines has expressed the company’s regret for causing inconvenience to their customers. However, as per them, the safety of both the crew and the passengers is of utmost importance to the airline.

Passengers who are holding tickets of the South African Airlines and are affected by the cancellation due to the Cyclone Carlos can call the airline’s call centre in case of any query.

The South African Airways has daily flights to Mauritius with the number being two between Wednesday and Sunday.
