Vancouver to freeze in rainy and chillier weather

January 19, 2017 5:43 PM |

vancouver post For those who have kept their brollies aside in Vancouver are requested to dig them out again as rain is foreseeable in the metro city in the coming days. As per the weatherman, the subzero temperatures that were brought by an Arctic front are not expected to face a rising trend. A return to normal winter temperatures is likely to remain in the metro city for now until at least next several weeks.

As per the Meteorological Department, the reason for no change in the weather pattern can be attributed to a westerly to southwesterly flow blowing from quite some time now. Though, mild weather is foreseen in the long term towards the month end. Until the end of Thursday, some showers may also make an appearance though the possibility of intense or heavy rainfall like the one that fell on Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning is not foreseen. However, the Meteorological Department also expects downpour almost every day. The temperatures are also likely to range from a high of 7-8 C to lows of 1-5 C.

Hefty showers of close to 43 mm were observed at Vancouver International Airport between Monday and Wednesday morning. Additionally, West Vancouver observed 86 mm and Port Mellon recorded 145 mm of rains during the similar time frame. Due to the change in the weather, avalanche conditions in the alpine region of southwest B.C have also degraded. As per Avalanche Canada, the avalanche hazard is substantial on Wednesday while Thursday in the South Coast can witness high avalanche.
