Stay slim by keeping your kitchen spotless

February 4, 2016 6:16 PM |

Stay slim by keeping your kitchen sparkling cleanIf you tend to keep your kitchen sparkling clean, you are more likely to stay slim, says study. A research conducted at the Cornell Food and Brand Lab and published in Environment and Behaviour has revealed that a chaotic environment in the kitchen make people snack more.

The study required stressed half of the female participants to wait in a kitchen covered in a mess with dirty dishes in the sink, newspapers on the table, and phones always ringing.

On the other hand, the rest of the women were asked to wait in a clean and organized kitchen.

Both these kitchens contained carrots, cookies, and crackers. The women waiting in the messy kitchen ate twice the amount of cookies than the ones in the cleaner kitchen. Meanwhile, women who entered a spotless kitchen ended up eating around 1000 fewer calories.

While meditation is one way of resisting snacking inside the kitchen, another way to stay away from those extra calories is to keep your kitchen clean at all times. The mess in your kitchen makes you feel out of control. Simply speaking, when your kitchen remains out of hand, you seem to eat more.

So, the next time you feel hungry while in your kitchen, make sure there is no mess in your kitchen.
