Summer is almost here and so are countless summer skin woes. Keeping the skin nourished, supple and free of acne is not an expensive affair. If you have already burnt a big hole in your pocket, trying out different expensive and ineffective beauty products, it’s time to eat it right.

Fret no more! here are few healthy treats to keep skin ailments including acne, blemishes, sun burn and dehydration away. Try adding at least one of these to your everyday diet for a perfect flawless skin. And the best part is that one does not need to have boring, boiled and sick food to get the dream look.

Dark chocolate

Having dark chocolate is not a sin. In fact dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants, fatty acids and flavanols. Antioxidants are rich in vitamins, minerals and enzymes that help to repair damaged tissues of the body. This is by slowing down or preventing the effect of free radicals, which can cause oxidation and lead to cell dysfunction.

Antioxidants present in dark chocolate helps to protect the skin from scorching heat of summer. Cocoa is also known to relax arteries and thereby, increasing blood circulation and leading to glowing skin.

Make a soothing chocolate shake by using cocoa powder or raw cacao, some ice and skimmed milk.

Red bell peppers

Alcohol if taken in moderation can be salubrious. Wine has been linked to various health benefits over the years and is one of the most preferable alcoholic beverages across the globe. Wine is known to prevent breast cancer, prostate cancer, tooth decay, longevity and aging of skin.

It is true that we cannot stop the clock and stay young forever but those people who frequently take wine are less subjected to diabetes, memory loss and heart disease. And in this hot summer, wine is definitely a better bet than beer!

Salmon

Salmon is rich in fatty acids and is an excellent food to fight anxiety and depression. Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids that best fight against wrinkles and acne. It is a great beauty food and especially good during summers as it aids digestion. Papaya also abounds in antioxidants, beta-carotene and Vitamins C and E. Moreover, Vitamin C will protect the skin against sun damage.
