Weather Forecast for Jan 20: Cold weather in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rain in South TN

January 19, 2017 8:29 PM |

The Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir has finally moved away, bringing relief from the continuous rain and snow over the hills of North India. However, remnants of the system will continue to give isolated rain and snow over upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, while Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will remain dry.

Meanwhile, northwestern plains will continue with cold weather conditions as icy cold winds are still blowing across the region. As a result, we do not expect any major change in the temperature profile during the next 2 days.

Moderate to dense fog is also likely to occur over few parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and foothills of Uttar Pradesh.

Now, an anti-cyclone is seen over central parts of the country. With this, minimum temperatures are likely to rise marginally over South Madhya Pradesh, North Maharashtra and parts of Gujarat.

Meanwhile, East and Northeast India will continue with dry weather conditions during the next 24 hours.

Down South, a cyclonic circulation is seen over South Andaman Sea and a trough is extending from this system up to Southwest Bay of Bengal. Due to this, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely to continue over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, while isolated rains may also occur over South Tamil Nadu.
