Weather Forecast for Jan 21: Rain and snow in Kashmir, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Rain in Chennai, TN

January 20, 2017 4:06 PM |

A fresh Western Disturbance has started affecting Jammu and Kashmir. With this, fresh spell of scattered light to moderate rain and snow will once again commence over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and few parts of Uttarakhand. Its induced cyclonic circulation is seen over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab but the system will not give any weather over the northwestern plains. However, we could see come clouding over the region, leading to marginal rise in minimum temperatures across the plains including Delhi-NCR.

The anti-cyclone continues to persist over East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, which keep the weather over Central India dry and clear with bright sunshine.

Meanwhile, night temperatures are likely drop over East India on account of dry and cold northwesterly winds blowing across the region.

Down South, the cyclonic circulation persists over South Andaman Sea and a trough is extending from this system up to Southwest Bay of Bengal. Due to this, scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely over South and coastal Tamil Nadu.

Chennai could also witness some scattered showers during this time. Both the intensity and spread of the rain activity will increase in the next 24 hours.
