Weather Forecast for March 1: Snow in Kashmir, Himachal; Rain in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab

A Western Disturbance is seen over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. Because of this system, an induced cyclonic circulation has developed over North Rajasthan and adjoining Punjab and Haryana.

Due to combined effect of these two systems, scattered to widespread rain and snow is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Also, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi may record some light rains with isolated hailstorm activity.

Coming to central parts of the country, a cyclonic circulation is seen over North Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Rajasthan. Also, an anti-cyclone is marked over North Odisha and adjoining areas.

Due to this, Gujarat may register a drop in day temperature, while rise in maximums are likely over parts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, heatwave conditions will abate from parts of Madhya Maharashtra as temperatures are likely to decrease.

Up in Northeast India, a cyclonic circulation is seen over West Assam and adjoining areas. Also, a trough is extending from this system up to North Bay of Bengal. With this, scattered to isolated rain and thundershowers are likely over Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Assam.

The rain activity is expected to increase after 24 hours.

Down South, a trough is extending from Lakshadweep up to North Interior Karnataka. Another trough of low extends over equator up to South Tamil Nadu.

With this, scattered light rain and thundershowers are likely over South Tamil Nadu and isolated parts of Kerala. Andaman and Nicobar Islands will record some rains. The rain activity will intensify from March 3 onward and will include Chennai as well.
