Weather Forecast for May 5: Heatwave to subside with rain in Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad

The Western Disturbance is now over Jammu and Kashmir. While its induced cyclonic circulation is over Punjab, Haryana and adjoining Himachal Pradesh. Both the systems are likely to clear away the region during next 24 hours. Both the systems will continue giving fairly widespread rain and thundershowers over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Thursday.

While plains of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi NCR and West Uttar Pradesh will see isolated light rain and thundershowers along with thunderstorm or dust storm activities. West Madhya Pradesh could also see some isolated activity under its influence.

Now we can see three cyclonic circulation marked over East and Northeast India. One can be seen over East Uttar Pradesh, while other is over Bihar and West Bengal region. The third system is over Assam and Meghalaya. A trough can be seen running through all these systems from foothills of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar up to Arunachal Pradesh. In wake of this, we can expect good pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers over parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand. While, northeastern states will see scattered light rain only.

Another trough can be seen extending from this system up to North Coastal Andhra Pradesh across Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha, which may give isolated light showers over Odisha and Chhattisgarh on Thursday.

Down south, wind discontinuity continues to prevail from Marathwada region up to Comorin area across Telangana, Interior Karnataka and Interior Tamil Nadu. Accordingly, scattered rain and thundershowers are likely over Vidarbha, Marathwada, Telangana, and interior Karnataka including Bangalore on Thursday. While Interior Tamil Nadu and Kerala will have isolated light rain only.

The heatwave conditions have already abated from most parts of the country and weather conditions are likely to improve further on Thursday barring few places. However, day maximums will continue to exceed 40 degrees.
