Western Himalayas will witness a rainy and snowy week ahead as back to back Western Disturbances are likely to affect the region. Isolated pockets in South India along with Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are also expected to witness some rains
Let's take a look at the weather forecast for the week.
Heavy to very heavy rain and snow is likely over parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh January 24 onward and is expected to continue until January 27. Thereafter, the intensity of rain and snow will reduce and light weather activity will continue. Uttarakhand is also expected to witness good rain and snow during this period.
Around January 25, many parts of North Indian plains including Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi may witness some rains. Isolated hailstorm with squally winds is also expected over Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan.
Maximum temperatures will witness a drop by 5 to 7 degrees until January 27 over the Northwestern Plains. Minimums may also witness a marginal drop by 2 to 3 degrees initially and thereafter by 5 to 7 degrees.
Warm weather conditions will prevail over many parts of Madhya Pradesh as well as Chhattisgarh. Light rain and thundershowers are expected over Northeast Madhya Pradesh on January 26 night or morning hours of Janaury 27.
The coastal stations will continue to observe very warm days during the next 24 hours. Temperatures are likely to witness a drop by 2 to 3 degrees. Mornings will continue to be above normal by 2 to 4 degrees. Few pockets of Gujarat may receive very light rain on January 26.
East and Northeast India
Shallow to moderate fog will persist over parts of East and Northeast India. Weather conditions are expected to remain dry as no weather system is affecting the region.
Minimum temperatures are expected rise marginally. Maximums will settle close to the normal levels.
Weather conditions will remain dry till January 24. Thereafter, scattered light to moderate rain is expected over parts of Kerala and Coastal Tamil Nadu January 25 onward. Thereafter, rains will intensify and cover most parts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai, Kerala, South Karnataka and southern coast of Andhra Pradesh around January 26 and 27.
