Western Himalayas will witness a rainy and snowy week ahead as back to back Western Disturbances are likely to affect the region. Isolated pockets in South India are also expected to witness some rains
Let's take a look at the weather forecast for the week.
Rain and snow is expected over many parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh January 16 onward and is expected to continue until January 18. Thereafter, a dry spell is likely between 19 and 21. However, rain and snow will once again commence on January 22. Uttarakhand is also expected to witness scattered rain and snow during this period.
Minimum temperatures will remain above the normal levels. However, cold day conditions may persist over Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan on January 16 and 17.
Weather conditions are expected to remain dry over most parts of Central India due to the absence of significant weather system. Both minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to rise gradually by 1 to 2 degrees. Cold wave conditions will abate and temperatures will remain above the normal levels during the next week.
East and Northeast India
Shallow to moderate fog will persist over parts of East and Northeast India. Weather conditions are expected to remain dry as no weather system is affecting the region.
Minimum temperatures are expected to fall by two to three degrees until January 17 over East India. Thereafter, a rise of two to three degrees is expected up to January 22. No major change in temperatures is expected in Northeast India.
On January 21, many parts of Tamil Nadu will receive rain and light rain will also occur over South Interior Karnataka including Bengaluru along with parts of Kerala. On January 22, many parts of South Karnataka and Interior Tamil Nadu and parts of Kerala may receive light rain.
