Updated on July 29, 2015: The deep depression over Northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh is around 130 km South of Chittagong in Bangladesh. The system is not very far from Kolkata in West Bengal as well.
In view of this deep depression, we can expect good Monsoon showers for next 2 days in all the three eastern states of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Odisha will also continue to receive some rain.

Updated on July 28, 2015: The depression over Bay of Bengal has remained practically stationary and is centered at 22°N and 90.2°E, around 150 km southeast of Kolkata. Just like the system over Rajasthan, even this system has existed for a fairly long duration. It is intensifying further and is likely to become a deep depression gradually.
The system has remained confined to open seas and only its peripherals have touched coastal parts of Bangladesh, West Bengal, and Odisha. The system is also affecting parts of Jharkhand. Extremely heavy rain remains limited to the sea and moderate to heavy rainfall has been observed over parts of West Bengal and Odisha.
The system is currently in its concentration phase and isn't moving. Once the system finishes organizing itself, it is likely to move inland. During the first week of August, the system is likely to give good rainfall activity over parts of West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, and even Chhattisgarh. The system may later move all the way to Gujarat before exiting the country.
Updated on July 27, 2015: Depression over Northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal and Bangladesh continues to sustain its strength. The weather system is currently centered at 22°N latitude and 90.2°E longitude, around 150 kilometers southeast of Kolkata.
At present, the depression has been giving heavy to very heavy rain in Bangladesh, mostly over the coastal region. While peripherals of the system are giving moderate to heavy showers over coastal parts of West Bengal and North Odisha.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the system is likely to remain stationary and possibly strengthen into deep depression in next 24 hours.
In wake of the system strengthening, moderate to heavy rain will continue to lash the coastal parts of West Bengal and Odisha for next 48 hours. Thereafter, intensity of rain will increase as the system will come close to the coast and cover inland areas. Entire West Bengal, Odisha, parts of Jharkhand and Bihar will then witness heavy to very heavy rainfall.
With these Monsoon showers, Odisha will cover its rainfall deficiency, which at present stands at 3%. While, the highly deficient state of Bihar (24% rainfall deficient) may catch up with normal Monsoon rains.
Let us have a look at the rainfall figures recorded in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday.
