Foothills of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar gearing up for good Monsoon showers

August 30, 2016 9:14 AM |

Rain in Uttar PradeshThe foothills of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have not received any rainfall for the longest time. Several districts in these two states have been dry for about a fortnight now.

Generally, the foothills receive more rains than the plain areas of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. This is because Monsoon leaves no stone unturned to show its vigorous side over the foothills region. Moreover, rain waters flowing down from Nepal also affect the districts lying in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Skymet Weather expects that the ongoing dry spell will end very soon. The foothills of East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar will receive good rains during next 48 hours.

The dry spell had almost dried up the paddy crops in the East Champaran district and the West Champaran district of Bihar. This upcoming spell of rain could save the crops, which could have otherwise died.

Thus, we can say that the spell of Monsoon showers will be a boon for paddy crops. Districts to be blessed with good rains in the two states include Purnea, Bhagalpur, East Champaran , Supaul, Gorakhpur, Bahraich, Bareilly and others.

At present the axis of the Monsoon trough at mean sea level is passing through Bikaner, Guna,  Mandla, Vishakhapatnam and thence in the east-southeast direction towards eastcentral Bay of Bengal. We expect this trough to move north, towards the foothills of the Himalayas. This trough will be responsible for bringing rains over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
