Updated on May 3, 5:00 PM: Hyderabad has received thundershower at few places due to which the temperature has witnessed a steep drop of 10 degrees. The city had been reeling under severe hot weather since last few days but news of pre-Monsoon showers does bring hope for the residents. The maximum temperature that has come down to 27°C from 37°C in an hour may rise again during next couple of hours. However, chances of more thundershowers along with pre-Monsoon rain in next few days will arrest the temperature from rising beyond an unbearable mark.
Published on May 3, 4:00 PM: Hyderabad has remained hot for the past few days. The maximum temperatures have been well above the normal levels. So much so that the city had recorded the hottest day in April in 43 years. A few spells thundershowers have been observed which failed to bring down the maximum temperature in the city.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Hyderabad recorded 0.5 mm of rain. While the maximum settled at 41 degree Celsius which is above the normal levels, the minimum was recorded at 27.3°C which is close to the normal levels.
Now, the city is likely to receive a fresh spell of Pre-Monsoon showers starting today. These rains will be attributed to the wind discontinuity which is currently seen from South Madhya Pradesh to Comorin area across Marathwada, Interior Karnataka and Interior Tamil Nadu.
These rains will start affecting Hyderabad starting today evening. The proximity of this discontinuity to Telangana will lead to cloud formation during the latter half of the day. Thus, light thundershowers are likely to be observed during the next two to three days. These rains will result in comfortable evenings and nights.
However, warm weather conditions will continue to affect the capital city of Telangana. Day temperatures will witness a drop by a notch or so.
