Good Monsoon rains observed in Bihar

July 6, 2015 11:56 AM |

Good Monsoon rains observed in BiharGood rains were observed in most parts of the country in June and the countrywide rainfall during the month was surplus by 16 per cent. However, Bihar was one of the three sub-divisions that remained deficient by 28 per cent.

In fact, the rainfall deficiency in the state by July 5 jumped to 32 per cent.  According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, from June 1 to July 5, Bihar had received only 149 mm of rain against the normal average of 220 mm.

However, as reiterated by Skymet, the state has started receiving good amounts of rain. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, the state capital Patna received 86 mm of rain, Gaya recorded 132 mm of rain, Malpur (148 mm), Bhagalpur (61 mm), Purnea (49.2 mm), and Siwan 23 mm of rain.

This spell of rain is surely going to narrow down the rainfall deficiency in the state to a large extent. Meanwhile, more rain is expected in the state and its adjoining areas for next 48 hours.

Along with Bihar the mountainous region of Nepal and most parts of East Uttar Pradesh have also received good amounts of rain. If the incessant rains continue for more than 24 hours, a flood like situation may arise in Bihar. Thus the residents are advised to exercise caution and be alert at all times.
