Clear weather and sunny days are being prevalent in the state of Gujarat. In the wake of this, the state has been witnessing scorching hot afternoons.

Temperatures over most parts of the state have risen four to six degrees above the normal average. In fact, in the last 24 hours, Ahmedabad recorded the day maximum at 36.7°C, Amreli 38°C, Vadodara 38.3°C, Bhavnagar 35.8°C, Bhuj 35.2°C, Deesa 37°C, Kandla 35.8°C, Porbandar 37.4°C, Rajkot 36.8°C, Surat 38.4°C, and Veraval 37°C.

Thus, most districts of the state have observed maximum temperatures in the range of 37°C-39°C. However, the heatwave has not yet commenced over the region till now but conditions are somewhat similar to the heatwave.

As per Skymet Weather, the reason for the sizzling weather in Gujarat can be attributed to the dry easterly and northeasterly winds that are prevailing over the region. As these winds are warm and moist in nature, they led to significant rise in the mercury.

Moreover, the absence of any significant weather system over the region has also contributed in the temperatures to scale up. The months of January to April is a dry period for Gujarat.

Skymet Weather further reiterates that as of now, the long range models are also not predicting any relief from the ongoing scorching heat. Moreover, the coming summer months are also going to be very hot for the state.
