As reiterated by Skymet Weather, heavy Monsoon rains continued to batter entire Delhi-NCR on Friday as well. In addition to this, severe thunderstorm and lightening has been reported across the city.
In span of nine hours from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Palam Observatory has recorded 64 mm of rain. Moreover, incessant rains are showing no signs of taking a back seat.
Weathermen predict that rains are likely to continue for remaining part of the day as well. At present also, rain bearing clouds are covering the entire city.
According to Skymet Weather, Monsoon trough is running close to Delhi-NCR, while a cyclonic circulation is prevailing over Haryana and adjoining areas. Besides this, Western Disturbance is also moving across Jammu and Kashmir.
All the systems coupled together are resulting in moderate to heavy rains over Delhi-NCR. Further, the systems are likely to stay put over their respective areas and thus, good rains are likely to continue for another 24 hours.
Torrential rains have flooded several streets and roads, resulting in major traffic jams. Gurugram has been already cut off from Delhi as local administration has asked people to avoid the millennium city.
Massive traffic jams were also reported from other parts of the city as heavy showers continued to inundate several roads.
