Updated on October 25, 2015 at 1:30 pm IST: The cyclonic circulation off East Sri Lanka is likely to induce a low pressure area over the region.
This system will gradually start affecting South Tamil Nadu, and will give rain over the region, mainly in coastal areas. Intensity of rainfall is likely to increase from October 27, and by October 28, many places in Tamil Nadu will start receiving good rains.
A trough over southeast and adjoining southwest Arabian Sea will further intensify and increase rainfall activity over Lakshadweep, coastal Karnataka, and Kerala.
A low pressure area is also expected to form over southwest Arabian Sea which may intensify gradually and will then start moving in a north-northwest direction.
To sum it up, there are chances of scattered rainfall activity over Peninsular India and this activity is likely to intensify by the night of October 27. This rain spread will then shift to parts of Rayalaseema and start giving light to moderate rainfall in this region.
Story first published on October 24, 2015: Kerala and Tamil Nadu have been already witnessing light rain for last few days and as the weather conditions indicate, similar weather activity will continue for next few days as well.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, a cyclonic circulation is prevailing over southwest Bay of Bengal near Sri Lanka. Another cyclonic circulation is seen in its close proximity over Lakshadweep and Maldives region.
Both the systems coupled together will bring light rain over Kerala and coastal Tamil Nadu during next 24 hours. Few places might also record moderate showers. While isolated showers may occur over Andhra Pradesh.
As per Skymet, the system in Bay of Bengal will gradually intensify into a low pressure area by October 27. This will increase the rainfall over the southern states and will also mark the onset of Northeast Monsoon over the region.

Till October 27, maximum temperature will continue to settle on the higher side. But with the commencement of Northeast Monsoon, both maximum and minimum temperatures will register a significant drop.
As a result, pleasant weather will replace the sultry weather conditions across Peninsular India.
