Bangalore rain

After the onset of Monsoon over Bangalore, the city has been enjoying widespread light to moderate showers from last many days. These showers range from a traceable amount to double digit figure.

However, rains took a break from pouring over the city a few days back but the state capital again managed to witness moderate showers.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am from Tuesday, the city recorded 33.2 mm rainy spells. The reason for these moderate rains can be attributed to an off shore trough that continues over coastal Karnataka along the West Coast.

Another trough has been formed over the East coast extending from Andhra Pradesh Coast. The interior regions of Karnataka are likely to receive light to moderate spells during next 24-48 hours. Thereafter, rain intensity is expected to reduce gradually.

The seasonal rainfall of urban region of Bangalore is 30% surplus than its normal. However, rural Bangalore stands at 50% rain surplus than its normal.

For another 24-48 hours, temperature over the ‘city of startups’ are likely to remain comfortable with winds. Bangalore is expected to witness mainly cloudy sky.

The average monthly rainfall for Bangalore stands at 142. 5 mm and till date, the city has observed 84.4 mm rains. Therefore, it is worth noting if there are chances of rains to improve further in the month of September.
