Monsoon rain in the state of Telangana has been normal so far this season. Coastal Andhra Pradesh till date has received surplus rainfall to the tune of 31%, while Rayalaseema remains deficient by 32%.
On and off rainfall activity has been going on over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, but Rayalaseema has been mostly dry.
Recently, a low pressure area over coastal parts of Odisha has given fairly widespread rain over parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. However, Rayalaseema did not receive any rain. In fact, the latter has not received any significant rainfall in the month of July, leading to deficient rainfall. This season no weather system developed over North Tamil Nadu or South Andhra Pradesh, which could have given some rain over Rayalaseema.
But we can see a cyclonic circulation developing over Westcentral Bay of Bengal off Tamil Nadu and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
At present a trough is running from Andhra Pradesh up to Tamil Nadu Coast. We can expect light to moderate rainfall during next 2 to 3 days over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Rayalseema could also receive scattered rainfall. This spell of rain will be a positive sign for the Kharif crops, which were sown timely due to good rains in June.
Weather in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana
Temperatures over most parts of Andhra Pradesh were above normal by 4 to 6 degrees, in absence of any significant weather activity. But, with this spell of rain we can expect the maximum temperatures to come down to normal levels.
During last 24 hours, fairly widespread rainfall was observed over Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Hyderabad received 31 mm of rain, Nellore and Vijayawada 38 mm each, Kikanada 17 mm and Anantapur 22 mm.
