Monsoon rains to intensify in Delhi over weekend

July 14, 2016 10:50 AM |

delhi mainMonsoon rains continued to lash several parts of Delhi during the last 24 hours as well. In span of 24 hours, Palam Observatory in the city recorded 16 mm of rain, while Safdarjung received 10 mm.

Not only this, we can expect more rains over the national capital for the next few days.

Particularly around the weekend, we can expect substantial increase in intensity of rains and some good showers with isolated heavy rains.

According to Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to the Monsoon trough running through low pressure area over Northwest Madhya Pradesh.

Now, this trough is likely to shift northwards and run along the foothills of Himalayas, in close proximity of the northern plains. Besides, a fresh Western Disturbance is also moving across Jammu and Kashmir. Both the systems combined together will increase the rains significantly over plains including Delhi during the weekend.

Till then, on and off light to moderate rain will continue over the city.

Though these rains have kept temperatures under check but levels of humidity have increased significantly, making weather uncomfortable.
