Rainfall in TN, Kerala

The reason for these rain and thundershowers can be attributed to the presence of a trough. This system is extending from Kerala up to Telangana across Karnataka. Also, a cyclonic circulation is marked over Telangana and adjoining areas. This system is likely to move eastwards.

As per Skymet Weather, scattered light rain and thundershowers, with isolated moderate spells are expected over the hills of Kerala and adjoining parts of Tamil Nadu. Chennai may also record light rain activity.

In spite of these rains, the weather conditions over the two states of South India, Kerala and Tamil Nadu will remain warm and humid. However, these ongoing spell of rain were a relief to the locals from the prolonged dry spell over the region.

Before these rainy spells, both the states were reeling under warm and dry weather conditions due to the absence of any significant weather system over the area.
