Fog in Bangalore

It looks like fog has become a distant memory for the residents of North India. While the hills are free from foggy weather as they have witnessed a wintry mix of rain and snow in past few days, the plains are also observing fog free mornings with significant drop in night temperature.

The National Capital witnessed a clear morning today as well. Shallow to moderate fog was reported at the Palam airport with the visibility dropping to 500 metres. Fog remain abated from most of the areas in Delhi and the NCR region.

In past, East India particularly East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were reeling under the spell of dense to very dense fog. However, many areas observed clear sky conditions today as well.

According to Skymet Weather, absence of fog can be attributed to change in the wind pattern from warm and humid easterlies to dry and cold northwesterlies. These winds are blowing directly from snow clad mountains in of North India reaching up to northwest plains.

In wake of this, humidity levels have come down signifivantly and wind speed has also increased marginally. These factors together have kept fog remain abated in North and East India.

The central parts of the country have also observed fog free morning today.

As far as South india is concerned, Bangalore in Karnataka has witnessed moderate fog with the visibility dropping to 400 metres due to localized phenomenon. This is only for a short period, conditions are likely to improve once sun comes up.

Conditions are expected to remain the same during the next 24 hours as well. Thereafter, a fresh active Western Disturbance is likely to affect Jammu and Kashmir, which will change the wind pattern. With this, the spell of moderate to dense fog will make comeback over northwestern plains.
