Updated on April 25, 1:00pm (IST): At about 11.41 am today, massive earthquake tremors were felt across Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Kolkata and parts of Gujarat. The intensity of the earthquake was recorded at 7.5 on the Richter Scale. The epicenter of this strong Earthquake was confirmed close to the Indo-Nepal border, 65 km away from Kathmandu. The depth of the earthquake was recorded at about 10 kms from the surface of the earth. The earthquake coordinates are Latitude 28.1°N and Longitude 84.6°E.
With earthquakes of such magnitude, tremors are usually felt up to 1000 kms away. The buildings in the populated areas close to the epicentre have also suffered damage. Due to the strong intensity of the earthquake, aftershocks were also observed across North India. At 12.18 PM today, Delhi-NCR observed another strong aftershock. However, people in the area don't need to panic. Buildings have been evaucated and all are advised to maintain care and caution.
