From the third week of February onward, it seemed that winter has abated from northwestern plains of India. In fact, dry and clear weather, with bright sunshine was observed in most parts of the region. This also led to significant rise in mercury.

According to Skymet Weather, light rain and thundershowers are expected over North Punjab and adjoining Haryana. Meanwhile, isolated parts of Northwest Uttar Pradesh may also record one or two spells of rains during next 24 hours.

These rains can be attributed to the Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas. This system has also induced a cyclonic circulation over Northeast Rajasthan.

With the combined effect of these two systems, the wind pattern is likely to change from dry and cool winds to warm and humid winds.

In wake of this, rain and thundershowers will occur over the region during next 24 hours. Thereafter, the weather will once again go dry and clear.

Moreover, marginal drop in temperatures are expected over the northwestern plains including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh after 24 hours. In spite of this marginal drop, temperatures will continue to settle above normal, resulting in warm and dry weather conditions.
