Rain deficiency to persist over Gujarat

Monsoon has marked its arrival in Gujarat with a delay of almost 10 – 12 days. So formely, the weather was almost dry over the entire state.

As per Skymet Weather, Monsoon has reached only parts of Saurashtra, whereas Kutch region is still on the waiting list. Though conditions are becoming favorable for the further progress of Monsoon over most parts of Gujarat.

Gujarat has received scanty rainfall and till June 28 the state is witnessing rainfall deficiency of 83 percent. Saurashtra and Kutch region is rain deficient by 75 percent.

Southern parts of Gujarat have received scattered light to moderate rainfall activity. Good rains are still foreseen.

The low-pressure area developed over the southern parts of Gujarat and intensified into a depression and is moving in a westerly direction giving scattered rains. The cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha will also move in a westerly direction in combination with the trough over South Gujarat.

Hence, it is expected for the rain activities to enhance over the region between July 1 and July 4. Also, around this time few good rainy spells are expected over eastern and central parts of Gujarat. Though rain over Kutch region will remain subdued.
