Rainy spell ahead for Delhi

July 30, 2015 1:11 PM |

Rainy spell ahead for Delhi, good rain expected on the first day of AugustWhile both Safdarjung and Palam observatories in Delhi have exceeded the monthly rainfall. On the last day of July, the national capital may receive some rain. The last few days of July have witnessed patchy rain, with some pockets receiving moderate rain. August is also expected to begin on a rainy note with the rain spell lasting for a good 3 to 4 days.

August is the rainiest month for Delhi. Also, the temperatures, both maximum and minimum, witness a gradual drop during this month. This season will also see good Monsoon showers starting on the first day of the month itself.

The deep depression over Rajasthan has weakened into a well-marked low pressure area and is shifting northeastwards. This system will further push the Monsoon trough closer to Delhi. The system in Bay of Bengal will also pump some moisture in this direction. Also, there is a Western Disturbance lying not too far away from the plains of North India.

These multiple weather systems will result in a prolonged spell of Monsoon showers in Delhi. Good rains will continue till August 4. Thereafter, the intensity may reduce. Till then Delhiites can enjoy the Monsoon rains with long drives, hot crispy pakodas and the happy moments the season brings along with it.
