Shallow Fog In Most Parts Of The Country, 47 Trains Delayed

Fog In IndiaMost parts of the country woke up to shallow to dense fog, with only a few places remaining fog-free. The national capital too observed shallow to dense fog in most parts with the Palam observatory recording nil visibility at 7.20 am IST. Shallow fog engulfed areas like Lajpat Nagar, Indirapuram, and Vikaspuri, whereas dense fog was observed in Dwarka and Palam region inDelhi. Noida Fortis area in NCR observed clear weather.

Meanwhile,AmritsarandJammuobserved dense fog with visibility dropping to nil. EvenLucknowexperienced foggy conditions with visibility recorded at just 50 meters.Siligurirecorded visibility at 200 meters whileBhopalandBhubaneswarrecorded visibility at 800 meters. The cities ofIndore,Gwalior, andGorakhpurobserved shallow fog with visibility recorded at 500 meters. Also,Varanasirecorded visibility at 600 metersAllahabadat 1000 meters, andChandigarhat 2000 meters.

Prevailing fog conditions affected air traffic causing delay of 7 flights in departures while not a single flight was delayed in arrival. No flight was cancelled in either arrivals or departures.

Rail traffic also took a beating with 47 trains running behind schedule. Some of these trains with their approximate delay time include: Magadh Express (Islampur-New Delhi) by 3 hours, Chambal Express (Mathura-Howrah) by 5 hours, Chattisgarh Express (Amritsar-Bilaspur) by twelve hours, Purushottam Express (Puri-New Delhi) by ten hours, and Archana Express (Jammu Tawi to Rajendra Nagar) by 8 hours.
