Hills of North India Weather

Though winters approached in the country in December, but it was mild for the hills of North India. The snow and rain outbreak in the northern hills of the country were in effect since January began.

February too brought in some snowy and rainy days for the  Northern hills. All thanks to the successive Western Disturbances that lashed the hilly states of North India with snow which enveloped most of the popular hill stations of North India like Srinagar, Manali, and Nainital. Higher reaches of Kashmir too observed heavy snowfall.

As of now, the Western Disturbance which was affecting the Western Himalayas and was seen over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining North Pakistan is expected to move away in another 24 hours. This would result in a significant decrease in the snow and rain activities over Jammu and Kashmir.

However, Himachal Pradesh is likely to continue witness light rain and snow at a few places. Moreover, the hilly state of Uttarakhand which has received a low amount of snow and rain is also likely to witness light to moderate showers along with the possibility of snow at one or two places for another 48 hours.

The plains in the hilly state of Uttarakhand like Dehradun and adjoining areas are also likely to experience good thundershower activities. Moreover, after February 21, the affecting weather system is predicted to seize paving way for dry weather to prevail and the day temperatures to rise.
