The Southwest Monsoon has finally progressed into remaining parts of West Rajasthan, Kutch region of Gujarat and North Arabian Sea.
With this, the Monsoon has now covered the entire country.
The scheduled date for the Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) is July 15 and as expected, it has covered the last post of the country around the normal time.
With the completion of Monsoon journey, the axis of Monsoon trough has also been established.

The Southwest Monsoon continues to move at a rapid pace. It has now further advanced and covered more parts of North Arabian sea, Kutch region, some more parts of West Rajasthan and remaining parts of Gujarat region.
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) is now passing through Latitude 24°N/ Longitude 60°E, Lat. 24°N/ Longitude 70°E, Jodhpur, Phalodi and Latitude 28°N/ Longitude 71°E.
According to Skymet Weather, the weather conditions remain favourable for Monsoon to cover the entire country in span of next few days. This year, we expect Monsoon to cover last post of the country well before its scheduled date of July 14.

Southwest Monsoon has been taking baby steps in terms of its advancement over the leftover parts of the country. While Monsoon made an onset over Delhi on July 2, more areas of Gujarat as well as East Rajasthan were covered yesterday.
Now, Southwest Monsoon has made further advancement and has covered more parts of Gujarat. Monsoon has also covered the rest of East Rajasthan and a few more areas of West Rajasthan.
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) passes through Latitude 22.0°N/ Longitude 60.0°E, Lat. 22.0°N/ Longitude 65.0°E, Dwarka, Surendernagar, Jodhpur, Phalodi and Latitude 28.0°N/ Longitude 71.0°E.
Now, only the Kutch region and some parts of West Rajasthan are yet to receive Monsoon rains. However, during the next few days, Southwest Monsoon is expected to advance further and cover the rest of the country as well.

Southwest Monsoon has further advanced over Delhi and the NCR region, most parts of Haryana and Punjab including Chandigarh. It has also covered the remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Madhya Pradesh.
Southwest Monsoon has also made an onset over Jaipur, Bundi and some parts of East Rajasthan. A combination of weather systems has been responsible for bringing in Monsoon rains over the region.

The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of north Arabian Sea, South Gujarat state, West Madhya Pradesh and East Uttar Pradesh. It has also covered some parts of East Rajasthan. The two weather systems prevailing on either side of the India coastline seem to have been instrumental in its progress.

The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some parts of north Arabian Sea, extreme southern parts of Gujarat state and some more parts of southwest Madhya Pradesh. Only the western arm has made some progress.

Conditions are now favorable for onset of Monsoon over the northern plains of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi by end of June.

Moving at a rapid pace, Southwest Monsoon has progressed further into the remaining parts of Madhya Maharashtra, East Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. It has also covered most parts of West Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, entire Jammu & Kashmir and some parts of West Uttar Pradesh.
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) is now passing through Latitude 20.0°N/ Longitude 60.0°E, Latitude 20.0°N/ Longitude70.0°E, Dahanu, Ratlam, Jhansi, Lucknow, Pantnagar, Dehradun, Una and Jammu.
According to Skymet Weather, weather conditions remain conducive for the further advancement of western arm of the Monsoon in the span of next 3-4 days. While, eastern arm of the Monsoon will have to wait for at least a week for moving ahead and covering Delhi and other parts of the country.

It has also covered some more parts of Vidarbha, Bihar and remaining parts of North Interior Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.

The Southwest Monsoon has now covered entire Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. Simultaneously it has also covered some more parts of North Interior Karnataka, Jharkhand and Bihar.
Monsoon has also entered into some parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.

The Southwest Monsoon finally reached Kolkata on June 17. On Friday, the Monsoon had progressed further and covered remaining parts of Rayalaseema and Bay of Bengal. It has simultaneously covered most parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Sikkim. Monsoon has also entered into some parts of Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar.
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) is now passing through Latitude 15°N/ Longitude 60°E, Latitude 15°N/ Longitude 70°E, Karwar, Gadag, Kurnool, Kalingapatnam, Cuttack, Jamshedpur and Forbesganj.
While, western arm of the Monsoon remains stagnant at Karwar, Karnataka.
Weather conditions remain conducive for the further progress of Monsoon 2016 into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea and entire Konkan & Goa and remaining parts of North Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal, entire Telangana and some more parts of Jharkhand and Bihar during next 2-3 days.

Advancing further, Southwest Monsoon has finally covered entire Northeast India and some parts of West Bengal. The eastern arm of the Monsoon is now passing through Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, while the western arm remains stagnant at Karwar in Karnataka.
Besides this, it has also covered entire northeast Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of east-central Bay of Bengal, some more parts of west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal.

India's nodal agency, Indian Meteorological Department, has finally announced the onset of Southwest Monsoon over the Indian mainland of Kerala on June 8. The Monsoon has now covered remaining parts of South Arabian Sea, Maldives-Comorin area, most parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, few pockets of south Interior Karnataka, and remaining parts of South Bay of Bengal and some parts of Central Bay of Bengal.
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) is now passing through Latitude 12°N/ Longitude 60°E, Latitude 12°N/ Longitude 70°E, Kannur, Chennai, Latitude 14°N / Longitude 84°E, Latitude 17°N / Longitude 92°E, and Latitude 18°N / Longitude 94°E.
As per the weather models, weather conditions are quite conducive for Monsoon to advance further during the next 24 hours.

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, Southwest Monsoon has finally arrived over some parts of Southeast Bay of Bengal, entire South Andaman Sea and Nicobar Islands and some parts of North Andaman Sea on May 18.
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) is passing through Latitude 5°N/ Longitude 86°E, Latitude 8°N/ Longitude 87°E, Hut Bay and Latitude 12°N / Longitude 99°E.
Weather conditions are favourable for the further progress of Southwest Monsoon over Sri Lanka and into some more parts of South Bay of Bengal, Andaman Islands and remaining parts of North Andaman Sea during next 3 to 4 days.
The onset of the Monsoon can be attributed to the deep depression in Bay of Bengal, which is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm within next 24 hours.
However, the timely onset of Monsoon does not have any association with the performance or further progress of the Southwest Monsoon.
Skymet Weather predicts that Southwest Monsoon is likely to make timely onset over Indian mainland of Kerala.
This year, we expect Monsoon 2016 will receive 105% of LPA (Long Period Average) of 889 mm of rainfall during four month long rainy season from June to September.
