Thick Fog envelopes Uttar Pradesh, Agartala

Fog has finally clenched parts of North India under its tight grip as visibility reduced to nil in several places this morning.

Early in the morning today, Uttar Pradesh was the pocket where fog appeared without any prior notice.

Lucknow, Agra and Allahabad witnessed nil visibility due to very dense fog in wee hours of morning. Chandigarh also witnessed visibility reducing to nil.

Amritsar was slightly better than yesterday as visibility was 50 meters today as compared to nil yesterday. Up in the hills, Jammu also recorded very dense fog as visibility reduced to 100 meters.

Another place where fog was witnessed is Agartala, where visibility had come down to 500 meters. The city is one among the few places that has been observing fog since the winters began in November. Joining Agartala this morning was Gauhati where visibility reduced to 300 meters due to dense fog.

The national capital Delhi also witnessed very dense fog with visibility coming down to 100 meters, improving a little from yesterday. The minimum temperature also settled at 6.5°C at 7 am.

Due to dense fog in Delhi, departure of 10 flights was delayed while 2 flights were cancelled. A flight from Srinagar coming to Delhi was also cancelled in the wake of dense fog in Delhi.
