Thundershowers to continue over West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar

May 30, 2016 5:28 PM |

lightningSince last 2 to 3 days, East India particularly East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal have received fair amount of rainfall.

We could expect some more rain and thundershowers over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during next 24-48 hours.

Scattered light rain and thundershower activity are expected over Odisha as well during the same period. According to Skymet Weather's lightning and thunderstorm data, there is lightning alert over several places of East India along with possibility of light rain and thunderstorm activity during next few hours. The activity will sustain the momentum till tomorrow due to the presence of the trough extending upto Odisha. In the image above, the red patches indicate intense rain and thundershowers activity, presently going on over the particular regions.

Thereafter, a slight reduction in rainfall activities in East Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and most parts of Bihar is predicted. However, fairly good rain activities will continue over northern parts of West Bengal and adjoining foothills of Bihar. On and off rain activities will continue over coastal Odisha due to a semi-permanent trough which is running along the Odisha coast.

Many parts of West Bengal and adjoining Bihar will enjoy pleasant weather. This scenario will last for at least another 4 to 5 days. By the end of 2nd week of June, some parts of West Bengal and North Eastern Bihar will be covered by Monsoon and that time we expect continuous rain activities and significant drop in temperature over the area.
