April 30, 2016 3:50 PM |

Summers in HyderabadLike most parts of country, Hyderabad is too facing the brunt of heatwave conditions. On Friday, the city had recorded day maximum of 42°C, which was around four degrees above the season’s average.

However, the good news is that we can expect some weather activity over the capital city which will usher in some marginal relief from extreme hot weather conditions.

All thanks to the presence of the wind discontinuity over Telangana including Hyderabad which will keep oscillating.

According to Skymet Weather, isolated thunderstorm or thundershowers activities along with gusty winds may occur towards late afternoon or evening hours over the weekend.

However, hot and humid weather will still prevail over the city for next 48 hours but with less intensity. According to Skymet

Weather, these pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers are usually triggered by heat and available moisture in the air. Thus, these activities generally take place during the afternoon or evening hours and by then, maximum temperatures have already peaked.

This year, the capital city of Hyderabad has witnessed maximum temperatures above 39°C for the entire April, out of which 25 days surpassed 40°C.

Mercury peaked at 43°C on two occasions of April 13 and April 22, which is the highest in last 10 years. This was very close to the all-time high maximum temperature 43.1°C recorded on April 30, 1973.

So far, the city has recorded mere 9 mm of rain against the monthly average rainfall of 22 mm.
