Twin weather systems give good rains over Gujarat

Twin weather systems give good rains over GujaratThe state of Gujarat has enjoyed good Monsoon rains on several occasions during the month of August. So much so that several areas have witnessed heavy rains as well during this period. The rainfall performance is far better in August this year as compared to last year.

Even now, Gujarat has begun to receive good rains. In fact, the last 24 hours have been quite rainy for the state. However, rainfall has been confined to the south-eastern parts of the state. The region has recorded widespread rains.

During the last 21 hours from 8:30 am on Friday to 5:30 am on Saturday, several areas have recorded moderate rains. While Veraval recorded a whopping 46 mm of rain during this period, Rajkot received 16 mm. Other areas to have received good rains include Naliya 17 mm, and Bhuj 12 mm.

Traces of rains were also recorded over Ahmedabad, Okha, Porbandar, and Baroda. These rains can be attributed to two Monsoon systems which are currently in close proximity of the region.

Both of these systems are cyclonic circulations. While one is over South Rajasthan and adjoining areas, the other persists over Southeast Rajasthan and adjoining areas of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat region.

Due to these systems, good Monsoon rains are expected to continue over Gujarat during the next 24 to 48 hours. These rains will help in reducing the rainfall deficiency to quite an extent.
