The severe cyclonic storm Vardah has intensified into a very severe cyclone and was seen near latitude 13.3°N and longitude 84.7°E.
It is about 520 km east-southeast of Nellore and 480 km east-northeast of Chennai. The system is expected to move in west-southwest direction towards Chennai and will cross the coast close to Chennai by December 12 noon.

During last 24 hours, scattered light rains has occurred over Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Light to moderate rain and snow have been observed over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
Isolated rains were witnessed over northern parts of Punjab.
Moderate to dense fog was observed at many places over Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and at a few places over Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan.
Below normal minimum temperatures by 5°C or more were recorded at a few places over North Interior Karnataka and at one or two places over Madhya Maharashtra.
Maximum temperatures were above normal by 5°C or more at a few places over Jammu and Kashmir, and by 3-5°C at many places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.

Isolated rain is expected over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
Scattered light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells are likely over North Tamil Nadu including Chennai and South Andhra Pradesh coast. Maximum temperatures may drop by 2-3°C over these areas.
Isolated rain may also occur over Andaman and Nicobar islands.
Moderate to dense fog will persist at many places over Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, parts of Madhya Pradesh and North Rajasthan.
