Cyclone Kyant has weakened into a deep depression and is centered 15.7°N and 85.5°E, about 320 southeast of Visakhapatnam and 460 east of Machilipatnam. It will further weaken into a depression by Thursday night.
Weather activity in last 24 hours
Fairly widespread moderate to rains have occurred over West Bengal and Coastal Odisha. Few places have also recorded heavy showers.
In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Digha recorded 96 mm of rain, Kolkata 27 mm, Diamond Harbour 23 mm, Chandbali 19 mm, Paradip 18 mm and Puri 2 mm.
Scattered rains have been also recorded over parts of Tamil Nadu, while isolated showers were witnessed over Kerala.
Maximum temperatures over Northwest and Central India have dropped marginally and minimum temperatures have dropped by 1-2 degrees over northern plains.
Weather Forecast for the next 24 hours
Light to moderate rains with isolated heavy showers are expected to continue over many places of Northeast India, West Bengal and few parts of Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu including Chennai.
Isolated showers are also expected over Kerala. Weather will remain dry over rest parts of the country.
Weather will be partly cloudy over Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. However, Northwest and Central India will be dry with bright sunshine as dry and cool northwesterly winds will continue to blow over northwestern plains, Central and East India.
