Northwest India has been witnessing dry weather conditions for the last few days. Moreover, no major change is likely in the coming days as well.
The change in the weather conditions can be attributed to the withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon, which has further retreated from some more parts of West Rajasthan and has also vacated parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan.
The withdrawal line is now passing through Kupwara, Pathankot, Ludhiana, Churu, Phalodi and Jaisalmer.
In wake of this, dry weather conditions have been prevailing over most parts of Northwest India. However, weather conditions are not favourable for the further advancement of the withdrawal line during the next few days.
This is due to a fresh Western Disturbance that is approaching the Northern Himalayas after the next 48 hours. In wake of this, easterly winds will become more prominent over the northwestern plains in the coming days.
Moreover, the cyclonic circulation over Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas is likely to shift northwestwards. All these weather systems coupled together would restrict the advancement of withdrawal of Monsoon for the next couple of the days.
Though weather will remain warm over the plains but easterly winds will also increase the levels of humidity which further increase the discomfort.
