Jharsuguda is situated in Orissa and is the administrative headquarters of Jharsuguda district. It is a booming industrial hub, specializing in the metal and cement sectors. It is also known as the powerhouse of Orissa, thanks to a large number of thermal power plants located nearby.

Some of the places of interest here are the Koilighugar Waterfall, Gudguda Waterfall and Chandi Mandir. The ancient cave of Bikramkhol is a favourite tourist destination situated on the Jharsuguda-Lakhanpur Road, about 25 km from Jharsuguda. It is a famous cave which contains pictographic inscription and also paintings of animals. Historians and researchers from all over the country and abroad come to visit this place. Located at a distance of about 1 km from the Jharsuguda Railway station is the famous Jhadeswar temple. There is apparently a self-appearing Sivalingam here, whose actual age is unknown. Another place of interest is the Pahadi Mandir, which stand on a small hilltop.
