More rain, dust storm, hail storm in Bangladesh likely in coming days

May 8, 2018 6:44 PM |

Rain in BangladeshDuring the last 24 hours, fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thundershowers, with few heavy spells occurred over Bangladesh. Rain activity recorded at various places such as Feni that recorded 68 mm of rain, Chittagong 56 mm, Sandwip 52 mm, Rangamati 48 mm, Sylhet 17 mm, Mymensingh 13 mm, Comilla 9 mm, Faridpur 3 mm and Bogra 2 mm.

These weather activities could be attributed to two cyclonic circulations, one over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining area and the other over Assam. These weather systems are attracting humid winds from the Bay of Bengal that is inducing the moisture content over the region. This has resulted in good rain and thundershowers over many places. In fact, the weathermen are expecting these pre-Monsoon activities to persist over the country for the next two days, particularly during the afternoon hours.

So, light to moderate rain and thundershowers that would also be accompanied by squally wind and lightning flashes at times are likely over most places of Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions.

Similar weather conditions are anticipated over few places of Rangpur, Dhaka and Chittagong divisions and also over one or two places of Rajshahi, Khulna and Barisal divisions.

Likewise, there are likelihoods of moderate to heavy to very heavy falls and hail storm over some places of the country.
But with these weather events, the weathermen do not expect any change; in fact day and night temperature will remain nearly unchanged over the country.
