In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Jessore recorded heavy rain to the tune of 105 mm, followed by Rajshahi at 30.8 mm of rains. In the same time span, Chandpur witnessed 10 mm, Dhaka 5.1 mm, Tangail 4 mm and Barisal 2 mm.

As per weathermen, these rains can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which has been prevailing over Bangladesh for the past three days.

It is anticipated that the cyclonic circulation would continue to persist with slight east-west oscillation for the next four days. Therefore, light to moderate thunderstorm and rainfall with squally winds are expected to continue over Bangladesh in the coming days. Thereafter, the intensity of rains is likely to reduce.

As per weathermen, during the pre-Monsoon season, violent thunderstorms also known as Kalbaisakhi or nor-westers are very common in the country.

In view of these rains, many regions are likely to witness waterlogging problems. Meanwhile, the weather over the country will remain comfortable. In fact, the temperatures will also remain below normal.
