Winter has marked its arrival over Pakistan. This is clear from the fact as the mercury has dropped few notches. Besides this, the existence of fog can be witnessed in parts during the morning hours.
In the past 24 hours, mainly dry and cold weather prevailed. These weather conditions could be attributed to the feeble Western Disturbance that lies as an upper air system over North Pakistan and adjoining Afghanistan. Also, dry and cold westerly winds continue to blow over the region.
Weather models indicate dry and cold weather to endure in most parts of Pakistan for the next 24 hours. Moreover, shallow fog or mist conditions will continue over the plains of Punjab and upper Sindh such as Jacobabad, Lahore and Islamabad during the morning hours.
Days are expected to be little warm and sunny and nights to be cold and comfortable in Baluchistan and Sindh regions such as Karachi and Hyderabad.
However, light rain and thunderstorm with light snowfall over the higher reaches of the country is expected at a few places in Chitral, Balakot and Dir of Malakand and Hazara divisions.
Talking about the lowest minimums recorded over few places on Monday were Skardu -6°C, Kalat -4°C, Quetta -3°C, Chitral 0°C, Dir 1°C, Islamabad 5°C, Muzaffarabad 6°C, Faisalabad 8°C, Peshawar 8°C, Lahore 8°C, Multan 10°C, Karachi 16°C and Hyderabad 16°C.
