State of emergency was declared in some areas included the Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur regions. According to an initial government report, Lanao del Norte and Lanao del sur regions, along with Zamboanga peninsula are the regions, which were hardly hit by the storm. The remote village of Dalama was wiped out by flash floods. Power cuts and loss of communication lines have obstructed rescue efforts. It is the most recent disaster to hit the country, a place which is habitually ramshackled by at least 20 typhoons and storms each year, making it one of the world’s most disaster-prone countries.
