Tropical storm Tembin, scraped through southern Philippines on Friday, the last week. Storm Tembin fetched flash flooding and mud slides to parts of Mindanao island. The area got raked with colossal flooding and landslides. Two towns which were badly hit were, Tubod and Piagapo, where a number of homes were entombed by boulders. Tembin is known by various names in Philippines , such as Vinta, Igme. The storm started lashing Mundanao on Friday.
According to the sources, at least 180 people are dead and more than 160 are missing because of the tropical storm which demolished the area around southern Philippines and caused in complete annihilation of some parts . Winds of up to 80 km/h (50mph) were recorded to be blowing at the site of disaster. Philippines is agonized routinely from deadly tropical storms, although Mindanao is not hit that often.
State of emergency was declared in some areas included the Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur regions. According to an initial government report, Lanao del Norte and Lanao del sur regions, along with Zamboanga peninsula are the regions, which were hardly hit by the storm. The remote village of Dalama was wiped out by flash floods. Power cuts and loss of communication lines have obstructed rescue efforts. It is the most recent disaster to hit the country, a place which is habitually ramshackled by at least 20 typhoons and storms each year, making it one of the world’s most disaster-prone countries.
This natural calamity, just few days prior to Christmas is highly sad and disappointing, however, the tragedy that unfolded on Friday was beyond any human’s control.
