Global temperatures to witness a rise by 3 degree Celsius

There have been constant global talks to keep the temperature increase to below 2 degree Celsius. However, if recent reports are to be believed, global temperatures are all set to rise by 3 degree Celsius, in spite of efforts to cut down emissions and take a step towards a better tomorrow.

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission has made an assessment which showcases the climate commitments submitted by 155 countries for the 2015 edition of the United Nations Climate Change Conference. As per this report, there can be an increase in global temperatures by 3°C.

These 155 countries are representatives of nearly 90 percent of the global emissions. The submission of their Intended Nationally Determined Contributions aka INDCs on climate policy has been made to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This is to prepare themselves for the climate negotiations that will take place in December in Paris.

If at all these proposals are fully implemented, the INDCs could result in the global emissions growth at 17 percent above the 2010 level by the year 2030. This will be achieved without any international cooperation mechanisms or climate financial support.

It has been assumed that all these countries will keep on their efforts to keeping everything under control even after 2030. This will easily limit the temperature increase to 3 degree Celsius only.
