Australia Dust Storm

Australia, the land of varied weather shades has seen it again. Just about yesterday, Victoria in Australia saw a dust storm which struck Mildura and resulted in a thick red dust shroud. The whole town turned dark in just a few minutes. As per BoM Australia, the dust storm had struck the Mildura Airport at local time 5 PM, with winds reaching up to 57 kmph.

Residents had a lot to say regarding the dust storm. One of them mentioned, that the sky turned into grey, then orange from blue and then to black in a matter of 15 minutes.

They could see the massive patch of orange cloud coming towards them. The whole town had turned pitch black with cars going quite slow. It was only headlights which could be seen, and everybody was seen driving at a really slow pace.

The light did come back but the sky remained dusty for a long time and mud was seen on everything. As per a resident, it was one of the worst dust storms that occurred in Mildura, similar to the one in 2006.

As per a CFA spokeswoman, 12 callouts were received for false alarms going off in buildings in Mildura from 5 pm onward. Along with this, a severe weather warning as well as damaging winds was issued before 5pm for the Mallee district.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Christie Johnson said strong winds had whipped up dust.
