Due to torrential rains, many villages were cut off. However, the rescuers have finally been able to gain access and help dozens of standard residents. At least 12000 troops have been trying to rescue hundreds of stranded people in remote villages. Due to flooding and maid waters the operation has been slightly slowed down.

One of the hardest hit areas includes Asakura in the Fukuoka prefecture. The four bodies that were found included a couple who was swept away with the flood waters.

Several rivers breached their banks resulting in flooding of homes as well as rice fields. Kyushu, one  of Japan’s main islands has also been swamped by floodwaters. Not only this, many bridges and roads have also been damaged leading to the destruction of several houses and vehicles.

Many residents have also been lifted by military helicopters. Along with this several soldiers also carried elderly people on their backs saving them from flood waters.
