Heat to make a comeback in South Europe, North Europe to receive rain

August 26, 2015 5:52 PM |

France Europe Heat-2This past seven to ten days have been quite pleasant for most parts of Europe after nearly a fortnight of scorching heat from Spain to Italy, Balkans to Poland. This cool weather will not last long as a high pressure area is developing over Southern, Central and Eastern Europe. This high pressure area will encourage dry weather and heat buildup over the region. The major cities that will be affected are Madrid, Berlin, Milan, Budapest, Warsaw and Bucharest.

On Monday Madrid recorded 25°C as the maximum temperature, which is likely to rise throughout the week. By Friday and Saturday the temperature is expected to rise up to 35°C against the normal average of 28°C at this time of the year. Berlin will also feel the heat as the temperatures will fluctuate between 25°C to 31°C for the rest of the week with the hottest days being Thursday and Sunday.

The normal average is around 22°C in Berlin at this time of the year. Northern Italy including Milan will also feel the heat during the second half of the week, this is after a rather cool and wet start to the week. In Budapest the temperature will be close to 32°C from Friday into early next week, with no rainfall expected. This temperature is higher than the normal average of 27°C. Similar conditions will be expected across Poland. This spell of heat will be a long lasting one as it will spread well into next week.

Meanwhile, conditions are totally different in Northern and Northwestern parts of Europe where a low pressure system will bring rainfall over Paris, London and Amsterdam. This rainfall will keep the conditions cool but, there could be localized flash flooding on Thursday in some areas.
