The death toll remains at 18, eight in Florida and six in Virginia, however authorities are of the view that it could rise. Evacuation process is still underway in Mexico Beach as it is presumed that out of a total population of 1000 people, 285 are still unaccounted for and could be trapped in isolated areas.

On Sunday, President Donald Trump sanctioned a disaster declaration in Georgia for areas including Baker, Decatur, Dougherty, Early, Miller and Seminole. The declaration gives impacted occupants and organizations access to federal aid and funding.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) stated that more than 58 evacuations and 403 rescues had been completed since Hurricane Michael made landfall.

Many places are still without power in seven states from Florida to Virginia and rescue efforts have been hindered by fallen trees and other debris blocking roads. There is a shortage of food and water also.
