A major storm system has developed over the Upper Midwest. In wake of this, mild air will extend across the South, Ohio Valley, mid-Atlantic, and Northeast this week.
Day temperatures will range between 5 and 10 degrees Fahrenheit above average across these areas. Few places in South could witness as much as 15 °F above their normal high on Wednesday.
In Southeast US, many places may record highs up to 80 °F. Temperatures will climb up to the 60-degree mark in Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and New York City on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Cities such as Columbia, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia, will record within few degrees of their daily record highs.
Under the influence of several storm systems moving across the region, the mild air will be accompanied by clouds and rain.
The warm air will strive to reach New England, due to clouds and rainfall. However, temperatures will still top few degrees above average in most parts of central and southern areas. In the northern tier of the country, the air will be cold enough to produce a wintry mix of snow and ice.
The weather conditions are expected to gradually change to a more favorable one for cold in December.
While the Northeast will experience the wintry chill during this period, the coldest air will be centered across the Midwest, Plains and Rockies.
